Got shawl?

Weaving Works is having a shawl show, and they’re accepting entries this weekend. I am so there. It’ll be the only expense of energy I’ll manage today, but I’m driving into Seattle to show off my shawl. Maybe they’ll display it in such a way that I can get a good picture to post. (You all haven’t seen my masterpiece yet. I’ve talked about it, but you haven’t seen it). The lame part is that I’ve known about this shawl show for a long time, but have procrastinated the re-blocking and any snag weaving ’til the last minute, and now I’m too sick to do it. Sucks.

I’m still working on the Vogue Cable Cardi sleeves.

I’m about to start the cap shaping.

Now for the Knit-along…

Who’s got something? Are we all disillusioned with Cable-Eight already? I’ll get to mine, but I’m having SO much fun with the VCC, I just can’t start it yet.

I want to cable!

I was able to work on the VCC sleeves all day yesterday. They’re coming along nicely. I’m having to make some minor adjustments to the pattern because my row gauge is a little big, but it isn’t anything shocking or difficult. I’m getting anxious to start the cabling.

It’s a strange feeling, having only one WIP. There is certainly a list of things I have to do, but only one currently on needles.

I haven’t forgotten that I’ve made some promises. I know there are more than a few of you waiting for the lacy Noro hat pattern. And even more of you are waiting for Lauralund. Don’t worry. I’ll get to it. It may not be hat and sweater season anymore by the time I do, but I’ll get to it.

As for what is coming next, I’ve got to get going on my Cable-Eight, considering I’m the illustrious hostess. I also need to get my lazy, not-so-knit-alonging butt into gear on my Harry Potter sweater before Allison shuts the KAL down. I’m looking forward to the mindless stockinette. I’ve been enjoying the ribbing on the VCC, and won’t mind at all moving to stockinette when it’s done.

I received a lovely gift while I was sick. I don’t remember when it came, as I’ve been semi-delirious for much of the past week. I do remember being too weak to open the box, so Nate did it for me. (Speaking of, he’s threatening to make me go to the doctor. I’ve been hacking a lot recently. I’m not in the mood to hear I have pneumonia).

They’re wonderful stitch markers, sent by DJ. Thanks, girl! They brightened up a dreary day.

Lastly, does anyone want to live next door to Miss Finch? Our neighbor’s house went up for sale today.

I have some pictures for you

Like, the Vogue Cable Cardi which I might actually have the energy to knit on today.

image

That’s the back and sleeves.

Also, I’ve got a picture of Pete’s bag all done.

Black is a hard color to photograph. That’s the best I could do. Say a warm farewell because as soon as I’m able, it’ll be shipped to Italy.

The IME yesterday went fine, so far as I can tell. We won’t really know ’til the report shows up, but I am optimistic. Thank you all for your concern and well wishes.

Abby went back to school today, so I should be able to get some rest. I have catch up to do after the last two days of lawyer/doctor stuff. I have been too tired to sleep, so today I want to keep ahead of the game and get plenty of rest.

I’ve got nuthin’

I don’t have anything interesting to say today. Usually, when I face this situation, I start a post saying as much and suddenly, stuff starts coming out as if my fingers are connected to a different, much more intriguing brain than mine. Not today. Today, I am dull.

On the plus side, I’ve lost another couple of pounds due to illness (I’m not throwing up, I just can’t eat), and upon wondering if “that kind” of weight loss would affect the fit of my pants, I happily discovered that it does. I know it’s only temporary, but still, losing 6 pounds in a week and having loose pants is kind of fun, regardless of how it occurred. I hope that losing 6 real pounds will make that kind of difference, but I somehow doubt it. These pants are really loose.

The girls still have fevers. I’m too tired to knit. My IME is today, and after it’s over, I intend to stay in bed for the rest of the week. Getting up for my attorney meeting yesterday was almost more than I could bear, and today will be much, much worse. More time out of bed, more stress. I need sleep.

Hooray for wireless networks, sometimes

Our wireless hub frequently drives me nuts because it has to be unplugged and re-plugged several times a day, for whatever reason, however… when one is sick, it is really nice to be able to post on the laptop while sitting in bed, surrounded and supported by pillows and memory foam.

I was too sick to do a lot of knitting over the weekend, but I did finish Pete’s bag! Yup, you read that right, PETE’S BAG IS DONE!!!!! FINISHED!!!! POCKET AND EVERYTHING!!! The flag, the straps, the knots… it’s all done. I’m going to convince Nate to model for me so I can get a picture, and then I’m going to ship it off to Italy. Hallelujah!

Also, I’m about 8 inches into the sleeves of Vogue Cable Cardi. I’m working them both at the same time, and it’s going well. I am so excited for this cardigan. I haven’t even started the cables yet, which is the pretty part, but I’m loving the way it looks. I’m glad I used the Encore on this instead of Cable-Eight, which is what I originally bought it for. The down side is that although I am knitting the largest size, it is still going to be too small. I’m hoping it won’t be too too small, and the fact that it’s a cardigan is what makes me think I may be able to get away with it. But if not, I’ll be happy to knit it anyway, and lend it out ’til I shrink a few inches.

I’m off, but in the interest of color, I’ll leave you with a picture Abby took yesterday morning. I think it’s the best Easter shot we have. I don’t take very good pictures when I’m dizzy, feverish, and hacking my guts out.

Health Group- week 41

The good news is, I lost 4.5 pounds this week! The bad news is that it’s entirely due to dehydration and lack of food. I am so sick, I want to die. I’ve had a fever for three days, every single bit of me hurts…. and this week started out SO well.

Monday, I did PT and 50 minutes of treadmill.
Tuesday and Wednesday I did the same.
Thursday, Friday, and today, I’m just trying to survive.

This week, I had decided to cut out sugar. I’ve been unable to cut sugar and all other refined carbs, so I thought I’d start with sugar. I’ve done really well. I felt better the first part of the week. I am thinking it is something I’m going to continue.

That’s it. I’m beat. Talk amongst yourselves in the comments. I’ve gotta go.

It’s a knit-along day!

Welllll, how’s it going out there? You all know that I have my pretty yarn now. And there’s an errata posted for Cable-Eight. So other than posting a picture of my swatches….

image

I don’t have anything new to report. It’s all up to you ladies! And if I happen to link you, you can still speak up in the comments and talk about it. As for my swatches, the one on the left was knit on size 11, and makes stitch gauge, but not row gauge. The one on the right was knit using size 10 1/2, and makes row gauge, but not stitch gauge. I’m going to try it on the 11’s. I like the soft, loose fabric it made, and because I’m planning on wearing this as an over-garment, I think it’ll work out.

Stella has started hers, and is using Vento by Skacel.
I know this is unrelated, but Frances just won $500 from her local radio station. That is so cool.
Diana has started hers in a beautiful color of Cascade Sierra. (The yarn came from Angela, who is starting up an online yarn shop). Unfortunately, she didn’t find out about the errata ’til quite a ways into it. But, it sounds like she’s keeping a stiff upper lip.
Janell has joined the group, no pictures yet, and I think I heard that she’s knitting with the same lovely yarn as Diana.

While we’re speaking of Diana, and keeping in mind that we are all sick around here, so the TV is doing overtime, all I can think about when I see her name is Wonder Woman! Sing with me now….

“All the world is waiting for you,
and the powers you possess,
in your satin tights,
fighting for your rights,
and the old Red, White, and Bluuuuuuuue!!!

Oh yeah, we’re lovin’ it.

It finally came

I have yarn for Cable-Eight! Yay!

image

It is a lovely coral color, and it’s called Terracotta Canyon. Kat Coyle used it in her Wave Skirt, which is in the current IK. I’ll have swatches for you tomorrow.

I’m an inch or less away from completing the back to Vogue Cable Cardi. Then, as much as I’d like to start on the cables, I think I’ll do the sleeves. I’m going to try to do them both at the same time, the thought being they’ll match that way, and I won’t have to worry about decreases lining up and gauge.

That’s all for me today. I feel like crap. Whatever is going around has settled in my blood, and I’m sick. It looks like Liv is getting hit hard, and Veronica is showing signs of recovery. I hope this is a quick one.

UPDATE- There’s an errata posted for Cable-Eight. Thanks to Stella and Diana for the link!

Happy birthday, Sam!

My brother turns a year older today. I think he’s turning 24. So a very warm, happy birthday wish goes down to Central Oregon.

Here at home, I’m with a sick baby.

image

Yep, the kid has a fever, the shakes, and a dry cough. Poor thing. It looks like we’ll be spending a lonely Easter, because I’d imagine it’ll make it’s way through the ranks.

So yesterday, during the quiet of the afternoon, I took a little nap, knit a little on Vogue Cable Cardi,

image

and took a picture of the last of my plied, handspun skeins.

image

Oh, did I tell you? I honestly can’t remember if I did. The physical therapist told me that spinning was most likely aggravating my condition. How’s that? Aside from being generally annoyed, I’m choosing to not think about it right now.
