Rats

I started cleaning out my garage yesterday, and we’ve got ’em. Dangit. I’m so grossed out. It’s our first time, in nearly 14 years of marriage that we’ve had a problem with rats. Hopefully, this will get us bulldozing the blackberries out of our backyard sooner. Most of our property is covered with them (being blackberries, hopefully not rats), and they go right up to the garage. Dangit, dangit, dangit.

I’ll leave you with a pretty picture.

I was taking a late afternoon shower on Saturday, and looked up and saw this loveliness. This is what I had hoped to see when showering in my bathroom. The truth is that the glass usually fogs over with steam and I can’t see anything. Plus, the sky doesn’t always look that blue, even when it’s blue. But I looked up and it was gorgeous as the sun was streaming in and the maple tree was rustling.

So I turned off the water and shouted to Olivia to bring me the camera.

She was very confused.

Lovely pic of the sky through your windows. I would love to see that when I’m showering!!!

Ick on the rats. We had some as well. The guy that came just put out traps. I don’t think it got all of them. We don’t have a garage…it’s worse…they were under our house!!!!!!!!!! ICK ICK ICK!!!!

I think they might still be down there and have to call again. I hate ’em. Yuck. I feel your pain.

Sorry about the rats! We had one in the garage too. It made me scared to walk through the garage everyday! I feel your pain too.

On a happy note…I love that picture of your bathroom…so peaceful.

    Happy 4th!

Ooh! Love the bathroom ceiling shot!!

And shudder on the rats. We had at least one in our apartment a few years ago (we actually saw him — fearless) and it still gives me the creeps.

In the evening twilight we can see rats climbing along the telephoneline into the row of cypress trees that divide our property from our neighbors… Once, Glory Be to God, we saw a jeuvenile hawk swoop down and pick up a rat. YEEEEE HAW!! I heard the rats in seattle were really bad the last few years. We had them in our shed and I’ve been cleaning up after them, wondering all the while what sort of dread disease I’ll get from breathing in the dust from sweeping. I stopped cleaning till I can get some masks!
