Health Group- week 15

Good morning all! I’m still plugging along.

Monday, I didn’t work out.
Tuesday, I did 50 minutes of treadmill.
Wednesday, I did 40 minutes of treadmill, weights, and part of PT.
Thursday, I didn’t work out.
Friday, I did 50 minutes of treadmill, weights, and part of PT again.
Today I’m going to do 50 minutes of treadmill, and hopefully my PT stretches.

I want to be doing more, but it’s taking ALL of my time. This week, I’m going to try to wake up early enough to have all of my exercising done before Abby goes to school. Then I’ll have the rest of the day to do other things.

I could be eating better too, although I’m not doing that bad. Awhile back, if you remember, I was eating super and not exercising as much. I guess I can do one or the other, but both at the same time continues to elude me.

No weight lost. I’m going to continue to work out, even if I don’t loose more weight, because I know it’s good for me, and working out feels SO good. It seems like, at some point, the weight will come off. I’m not sure why I’ve hit a plateau. I’ve actually contemplated doing some sort of “diet”, but I’m not that desperate yet. I won’t do anything unhealthy. Once I get to the point where I’m exercising really well, AND eating really well at the SAME TIME!!!, then I’ll know if I need to adopt a different strategy.

How’s it going for the rest of you?

EeeeeeeeeeeKK!! This was a bad week for me!! I only went walking one time, and that was for 40 minutes. One night I was waiting on a phone call (I don’t have a cell phone), and that is where it would have been handy to have a treadmill for sure!! I had two or three days where I didn’t feel well with the old sinuses, and I even had a bad nosebleed, and then of course, last night, there was the flooding from Ivan!! My daughter had to evacuate with her boyfriend and pets, and we had no power, so I was baaaad and nibbled on chocolate chips to avoid opening the fridge!!!!!! TOOOO easy to nibble when you are nervous!!!! Oh yeah, and I gained one pound back. Well, the weather is beautiful today, so I am looking forward to walking tonight.

Chocolate chips, huh? :-). Well, good luck. I’ve been eating cornbread and butter today. That isn’t great either! Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Laura! Your website looks fabulous– and so full of content since I last saw it (which was when it was first launched). I’m super impressed to see your HEALTH GROUP section and have now bookmarked it as inspiration to get fit.

My big issues are that I am four months post-partum and ran into an issue where I had to have my gallbladder removed (N. tells me you went through the same thing). I lost a lot of weight in the hospital but have now gained it all back because I can’t stop eating! And I’m eating all the wrong things… it’s hard when you live across the street from Ben & Jerry’s, I swear.

Seriously, I’m supposed to be on a low-glycemic diet (I have mild PCOS and am at risk for Type II Diabetes) and exercise 20-minutes every single day, but my self-will is pathetic. I like vegetables and fruit (particularly fried or in desserts :P) but am more drawn to fried chicken and cupcakes.

I think it’s great that you worked out so much last week, even if it wasn’t as much as you wanted… I’m going to try and get out for ‘Mommy and Me’ yoga tomorrow morning… we’ll see!

Hi there, Xtine! Nice to hear from you! You are more than welcome to participate in Health Group on Saturdays.

I can’t imagine the daily temptation you must face living next to B&J. Wow.

I would love to do yoga. The little bit I have done, I really enjoyed. It is frustrating for me because I am more flexible than my range of motion. My stomach gets in the way of my doing some of my favorite poses, so I’ve put it on a back burner ’til I’m thinner. I have a friend who wants me to do belly dancing classes with her, and that sounds really appealing.

Good luck. It is hard with a tiny baby, but an exercising mommy is a happier mommy.
