Health Group- Year 4, week 27

Ok, so everyone around me is losing weight. It’s the month for it, and I’m wanting to get in on it, too.

This past week, I did some core strengthening, but my treadmill is still buried under stuff from Nate’s painting project. Hopefully, we can get it accessible today and I can start on it next week. I’ve already bought running shoes.

A woman in our church congregation is a personal trainer at a gym, and Nate has talked with her about coming and setting up a program for us. That could be a fun kickstart.

I actually weighed myself today. I could tell I’d gained weight, and was afraid I was up around 232. And I’m only 226.5. That was happy news. Well, not happy necessarily, but a major relief anyway.

I’ve been struggling with Calorie King, because I’ve lost some of my patience with breaking down everything I eat to figure out calories. Breakfast, snacks, and lunch are easy enough, but dinner can be really tough. Janell and I emailed last week and she said some things that I think will help, mainly to not be so OCD about it and just guestimate the best that I can.

That has to be better than doing nothing.

So, I’m working towards a good week. Is anyone having some good, beginning of the year success?

Hi! I haven’t replied to the health group post for ages. I lost some weight before I got pregnant with my son, then gained it all up again, and though he’s a year old now I haven’t had the energy to do anything about it… But this week I have been good, trying to keep my diet balanced and leaving all sweets and such to Saturday. I haven’t weighed myself yet, but I’m feeling hopeful for a good start this year. Maybe next week I’ll manage to get in some excercise too!

I started last week and weighed in on Wed. and was down 16.4lbs!! So I’d say that’s a really good start to the year. I was so greatful to add in veggies this week though. I felt like I was going to die without them!!! I’m being a little more liberal as well….We are only suppose to have berries as our fruit but those are expensive and hard to take in lunches for Kyrin…so I’m doing apples. I looked at it this way..it’s a freakin’ apple! No one can tell me it isn’t a healthy alternative to 1 c of strawberries!! I havent’ been so great at exercising though. I’m going to kick off next week again with getting on the eliptical. That’s how it’s been around here!!!

If you need help breaking down nutritional information of your meals, MasterCook will do the calculations for you. It’s terrible to have to buy another piece of software, but it works well.

Thanks for the info on Calorie King. I’m using the desktop software to track my diet, because I’m trying to reduce my cholesterol through diet.
