No time to post

I’ve been busy. The kids were out of school yesterday and it was non stop craziness. Abby had a party. Liv went to one. The house and laundry were in need of attention.

And I knit.

So, to catch up… we’ll start with Saturday. I bummed a ride with Marian out to east of North Bend to Shiori’s house for a dye workshop. They were handpainting and steaming skeins and rovings. I dyed a little sample skein,

but didn’t have time to dye my yarn as it started snowing quite convincingly, and we wanted to makes sure we could get home. And really, I wanted to kettle dye my skeins anyway. BUT, I brought home some dye to mix and experiment with,

and hopefully, it’ll be dyed soon. I think I like the color of my sample skein, but I’d like it lighter if possible.

Also on Saturday, I started another pair of socks, since I finished my Koigu cable pair. (They’re in the laundry, no picture yet).

I’m not sure how I like them. I’ve never been a huge fan of chevron socks, even though I like chevron stitches. But I thought the colors needed to have some movement to them, which is why I chose it. Are they too pink-purple-chevron-y? Dish it to me straight. I can take it.

Finally, (well, not finally, but finally in the knitting department), I wound up a skein of silk/mohair and am well into the Angel Lace Shawl.

It’s extremely hard to photograph, being all bunched up on the needle and such. I’m halfway through the pattern, but not halfway through the knitting, as it gets bigger each row.

I have my first guitar lesson today at 2. I’m really excited.

Ohh, I like the blue color you test dyed. Looks nice. Sorry to hear that things have been so hectic lately! Um, the pink and purple chevron socks…I like chevron stitches, so I think they will turn out nicely. I think I need to see them in person to give you an honest answer.

Yay, you’ve started the shawls too!

I love your sample skein!! Sorry you couldn’t stick around to dye the rest of your yarn.

The pink/purple socks are pretty. Pink/purple are so not my favorite colors, but I think that the pattern does a nice job of distributing the colors so as not to be too overwhelming.

    Beautiful shawl, too!

I love the socks! Is the pattern the one in Sensational Knitted Socks? I made those and they look very similar, only I like your color better! 🙂

I really like the blue of your sample skein.

As for the socks…if chevrons aren’t your thing…it will probably bug you the whole time you are knitting the socks. I personally like the pattern it’s making with the striping and the chevron-ing. There are so many sock patterns that can give the colors some movement. But..that’s just my opinion. If they are bugging you now…they’ll be bugging you in 10 more rows…then 20…then at the heel until you hate them. (atleast…that’s how I am. I have a retro rib sock that I made all the way through the heel and half way through the arch and I hated it the WHOLE TIME. It was yanked off the needles finally when I needed them for something else. It’s still sitting there looking sad and neglected but I just can’t stand knitting it. It’ll be a different sock soon enough)

I think the chevrons are nice-looking – of course it’s very similar to the socks I’m working on myself! The angel lace looks lovely and so does the blue sample. Sorry everyone had to go home early – that’s a bummer… I’m glad it didn’t snow the week before!!! I’m jealous about the guitar lessons… I’m sure that will be so fun. My guitar is still gathering dust under the stairs… someday… (sigh)

The chevron socks look great in that color. The lace looks beautiful too, I dont know how you manage to knit it with 4 children to look after. Oh I have nominated you for an award too so please check my blog for details.
