Wow!

By some miracle, Nate has managed to fix my site. I truly thought everything was lost. All evidence pointed that way, but, here we are, with posting ability restored, as well as the last 7 months of the semi-public portion of my life! All hail Nate!

Now I have only to go through and delete over 500 spam comments that were left today. That number does not include the over 300 comments that we deleted yesterday. I hate them. I hate spammers. I am sure that the 800 spam comments I’ve received in the last two days have something to do with my site corrupting. I say this because they continued to leave their spam, even after I had disabled the comments to most of my older posts. Then, once I lost all of my content and site access, they continued to spam me, so they had access to my blog, and I didn’t. I hate them.

I’m so glad to be back. I haven’t been knitting much, as I’ve been playing with my anniversary gift (no, you don’t know what it is yet), frogging dumb mistakes, and pouting helplessly while Nate’s been trying to fix the blog. So I don’t have much of anything to report. Maybe I’ll try and whip out a Hayden tonight for the Hayden along post tomorrow. That’s a project I have confidence I can knit successfully. I’ve been botching everything else.

Like, last night, at knitting group, I tried to make pants for Olivia’s doll. I ran out of my novelty yarn scrap I was using for the stripes half way through the first leg. I felt pretty stupid. Then I tried to start on Olivia’s clogs. I had the wrong needle. I haven’t been working on my Lauralund, because it’s not Christmas gift related, and so it feels like a misuse of my time.

Just ignore me. I am not writing well. I think I’m frazzled from the blog crap that we’re dealing with. Let me just end by saying, once again, that it’s nice to be back. Did you miss me?

OMG I hate that spam guy. He’s really making the rounds, too. He defeated THREE of my security measures and some blogs are getting up to four thousand spam comments a day. He uses some bot or something I don’t understand to automatically generate spam when you hit “publish”. Even though I know he’s not a real person I’d like to break every bone in his body. Pretty soon we’re all going to have to go with those “type the word you see in the box” things to login and put comments.

Some people are loving MTBlacklist for quick erasure of mass numbers of comments. I was unable to get it functional on my site. I hate the idea of regulating the internet, but this kind of crap is going to make it inevitable. I hope the knitting helps your nerves!

Well, OF COURSE we Missed YOU! You are one of my must-reads daily, and I even check back during the day to read comments, haha! I’m glad no one could see me yesterday as I tried to start a hat from the top on three stitches! I looked like I was a kid playing with chopsticks. I must have re-started that hat about eight times, since I kept twisting the stitches. Glad to have you back!

Hurrah for Nate! It is wonderful to have you back, Laura.

Actually, yes, you were missed 🙂 Glad you’re back and hooray for nice, helpful, tech-y Nate.

grrrrr. I HATE spam comments. So evil.

My resident blog guru/husband has recently installed a plug-in that requires people to type in a security code before leaving a comment. That seems to have thwarted the automated spam comments for me. (For now.)

Shoot me an e-mail if you’re interested and I’ll have hubby send you the info.

    Good luck!
