Health Group- week 32

Hmmm. It hasn’t been a great week for me. Like, at all. I think the stress of the appointment on Wednesday wiped me out, and I spent Thursday recovering, and since the week was already toast, I didn’t bother with Friday. I ate rotten. I didn’t exercise outside of letting loose at the disco Thursday night. I am drinking lots of water, so there’s something. I’ve been eating more salads, and on Thursday I took my vitamins. Does that count? Sheesh. Boom. Blah. (OK, that was kind of funny).

Monday is my second injection, and for those of you who remember, it took me about a month to recover from the last one. I’m hoping that this time I’ll at least do some light treadmill right away. I want to start seriously progressing again.

If I recall correctly, some of you have asked about recipes. I’m sorry to have dropped the ball. I’ve typed out some of my staples. Click the link at the bottom of this post to see them.

For more fabulous recipes, I highly, HIGHLY recommend this cookbook. We bought it at Barnes and Noble. Amazon also carries it here. This cookbook taught me how to cook. It has a full meal, including side dishes, for every day of the year. It is divided into days, (for example FRIDAY, July, week three), and it has weekly shopping lists that you can tear out of the back of the book. These are healthy meals. When I first started using the cookbook, I followed it day by day, but I’ve cooked so much of it now, I just go back to my favorites. They are easy to follow. They are healthy. He uses whole grains, lots of vegetables, and lean meats sparingly. Seriously, this book is amazing, and extremely practical.

Anyway, click the link for the recipes. Like I said, I did lame this week. I hope some of you did better.

Hi Laura! Ok……what the heck is “dough enhancer”? I’ve made bread, but I never heard of that!
Since I got my treadmill,(on the 14th), I’ve done 40 minutes on 4 different days, one day I had to stop after 15 minutes and use my inhaler, one 20 minute day cause my neck was hurting me to distraction, and two days of no exercise and no knitting!! Two things I need to do and didn’t do either! I haven’t noticed any weight loss yet, but truthfully, I forgot to weigh myself this morning as we are having a major SNOW DAY! I’d love to get out and exercise sled riding, but I think it’s going to be way too deep.It seems that I can’t exercise in the morning, at least during the winter, since my asthma has been bothering me. I have not yet figured out the ideal time and routine as yet.
Good Luck Monday with your injection!

Thanks Laura, for the cookbook recommendation. I am considering purchasing a good cookbook to make healthy meals for my hubby and let’s see how this goes.

Thanks so much, Laura, for the recipes! I WILL make the refried beans; they’re even on my diet! (WW Core) Thanks again for sharing!

Hi Laura. I am a lurker who also has a Bosch from Pleasant Hill Grain. I have never used their dough enhancer, but I use ascorbic acid in the form of vitamin C in addition to gluten for my whole wheat bread. According to Shirley Corriher who wrote Cookwise, it aids in gluten development. I use a ratio of 125 milligrams of crushed Vitamin C per two medium (8×4) loaves. And yes, I do use the orange chewable kind. Thanks for the great blog!

Yea – I lost another 2 lbs this week… That means I’ve lost 8 lbs since I started counting points 3 weeks ago! The bad news is that I’ve hit 174 – the weight I plateau-ed at last time I tried this diet. I remember it was right before Thanksgiving, and when I decided to “take a break” the whole thing crashed and burned. Fortunately the holidays are over for awhile and I can try and stay focused this time. The other difference is I’m actually exercising – whoa, what a concept. Thanks for the recipes – I may try some of them, but I’m a little too lazy to make my own bread. 🙂 Have a great week everyone!
