Incredulation, appreciation, nearing completion, and 24

Some title, eh? Well, let’s start at the beginning.

I finally picked up Cable-Eight again. I looked around for a pillow to slip it over, as suggested by Barbara Rita in the comments on the 13th. Since I didn’t see one I liked for the job, I decided to slip it over me instead. It fit! A little snug, sure, but it fit well enough for me to think that I can wear it at this weight as well as a thinner weight, so I’m going to leave it as is. I must be a completely incompetent measurer. Thank you all for making me take a second look. (That was “incredulation” and “appreciation”).

Now, for “nearing completion”…

I did a whole mess of knitting on the second Flower Basket Shawl yesterday. I have one more chart repeat to do, then the edging. I tried to spice up the photo a little by showing you the pretty Lantern Moon bag I’m carrying the yarn around in, and my foot.

And finally, 24…

Ok, we don’t watch much television around here. Like, at all. In fact, it has only been in the last couple of months that my children learned what a commercial was, and they learned it at someone else’s house. We watch movies, old TV shows we buy on DVD, kid stuff on PBS, and… that’s it.

Well, Nate has recently discovered 24. When there’s down time at work, he and his resourceful co-worker, Dave, entertain themselves on the computer by finding movies, insane internet stuff, and now, the show 24. They watched the 4th season last week, and now Nate has brought home the 1st season on a hard drive that plugs quite conveniently into the television. We’ve been staying up late (contributing to my being sick I’m sure) watching 4 or so episodes a night. It’s intense. I can’t believe how long this stupid show is. I know it’s 24 episodes at over 40 minutes a piece, but it feels like a movie that doesn’t know how to end. It’s gripping, and enjoyable (except for the more violent parts, which I don’t handle very well), but it feels like it will never end.

That FBS is amazingly gorgeous!!! You are either going to have to forfeit that one or teach me how, sister! But I have to do it in that color! It is fabulous!!!

I liked 24 & watched when it first came out! Enjoy! Hope you feel much better soon!!!

I am so addicted to 24. I am not one that watches a lot of TV but this is one show I do watch religiously (thank goodness for DVR). This season was probably the best yet (or at least I think so). I can’t believe Keifer Southerland wrote these!

Anyway, it’s a great show and easy to get addicted to…have fun watching!

I am such a TV addict that I am fascinated by people who can resist the lure of the television. I haven’t succumbed to the siren’s song of “24”, however. Thrillers are not relaxing enough for me.

the FBS looks fantastic! What yarn are you using? (I am planning on making it w/ a substitute and have been scouting around!)

We joke about how in our house we would vote David Palmer for President! We’re on disc 4 of season one. Started watching partway in season 3 and are catching up, just can’t get enough of that show!

I know I’m late to the party, but I wanted to sympathize. When Joe found 24 on dvd I was staggering and exhausted until it was over.
Gripping. 4 episodes a night kind of gripping.
(There are 2 more seasons out)

24 is an incredible show – definitely a nail biter. 🙂 I remember us watching it on DVD – all four episodes in a row before rushing it out to Netflix so they’d send us the next one. It’s just so gripping! Phil and I would say we were going to watch just one episode, but when it was over we would just look at each other and hit “Next” to watch another! We just finished watching the finale of the most recent season – we had cable for a little while and got hooked again before we moved. Fortunately, my dad taped it for us. Personally, I’d rather watch it on DVD because we aren’t interrupted by all the commercials.

24 is addictive. We too would burn through 3 or 4 episodes at a time. My husband would turn to me and exclaim “There’s no time! There’s no time!” I enjoyed the show, but was a little disturbed by its misogynistic bent–did you notice that there is not one smart, consistently honorable female character?
