Health Group- Year 2, week 8

Hi all. I’m posting from the Apple Store in Bellevue Square! Nate and I are on a date. We just had lunch at Chipolte, mmmmmmm, and now we’re going to the Bellevue Arts and Crafts fair. So, real quick…

I did some stretches this week, but no exercise to speak of. I’m having a MAJOR flare-up this week, so I’m icing my back frequently, and taking Advil. On Wednesday, I was barely able to walk. It isn’t the usual aching, it’s sharp, extreme, gasping pain. Dangit. So, no exercise to report. I’ve been eating ok, not great.

My stupid dog ate my Roma tomatoes. Off the vine. I’m not very happy with him. I wish he wasn’t so cute so I could actually be mad. I try to give him a piece of my mind, and he literally goes “Hollywood” on me, tilting his head and looking beyond innocent, wagging his tail and trying to figure out what I’m saying. It worked enough to get me to question my girls repeatedly, but once I found the still green tomatoes in the grass with the type of puncture wounds that only come from dog fangs, well, he’s busted.

Yesterday and today so far, my back has been better. Not great, but better, so I’m hoping that whatever in the heck happened to make my spine wig out has gone away, and I can resume exercise next week. I’ll let you know.

On the plus side, I found a super-cute swimsuit on Tuesday that I actually enjoy wearing! I feel pretty in it! The problem is that it takes the term “cleavage” to a whole new level. I’m going to have to do something about it. I don’t mind showing some. I have so much, there’s really no way around it. But even Nate (a huge fan of my cleavage), said it’s way beyond “a bit much”. Well, I still feel cute. If everyone’s staring at my chest, they aren’t as likely to notice my thighs, right? :-).

So, how was your week?

    Hi Laura, I’m finally de-lurking:)
I’ve also been icing my back this week. I did something ka-jiggedy to myself about three weeks ago and because my lower back is killing me I’m walking all weird and just making the whole thing worse. Does that happen to you? I hope you’re feeling better soon and congrats on finding the (almost-perfect) swimsuit.

I hope you are having a fabulous day! Art’s Mom & Papa are at the A&C fair at Bell Square today also; they always go. They love it.

Perhaps get little balloons and tie them on that look like tomatoes, and then he’d bite the balloon and pop it and it would scare him off!!!! I have chicken wire we can put around your pots with wire ties for the rest of the season to keep them from Abner. Or, just teach him how to make Spagetti Sauce….

I want to fire one of my Neurologists so yesterday I saw a new one, I have much to say about the new one…I liked him…but he doesn’t believe in pain medication for migraines at all. Ever. None. Period. Oh my. Can I do this? It is pretty intense as I spent Wed & Thurs in bed with a nasty migraine & contemplated the ER several times until help arrived via Papa who went to get a very strong prescription filled for me. (I had not seen this new doc yet.) More on this for anyone interested…

I am down to 194lbs! That is weighed in mid afternoon, half-dressed as I never remember first thing, but still a total loss from peak weight of 32 pounds!!!!! YAY!!!!

    Have a great week everyone!!!

Sorry to hear that everyone is having health challenges. My back DIDN’T hurt this week, which was great. Breaking up the exercise into 15-minute sessions has helped me avoid the pain. It isn’t doing a thing for my weight, though. I may be stuck at 260 forever!

My exercise buddy has been pressing me to try Weight Watchers. Although my husband is also dieting, he is on a schedule where I only see him on the weekends. Doing the same thing my buddy is doing might give me some encouragement.

Hi, hope the back is feeling much better! I’ve been knitting like crazy and not exercising so no weight loss to report. ( but getting lots of projects finished off. Have a great weekend.

Aww, Laura, I hope your back is getting better!

I’m slowly getting closer to my first goal of losing 10 kilos. I think I’ll get there either next week or the week after that. My husband promised to buy me yarn for a sweater when I get to that goal, though I doubt he understands how much cashmere blends cost. 😉 I’ll have to think about the swimsuit thing for the next 10 kilos, then.

Oh, and a friend talked me into signing up for beginner ballet this fall. I will no doubt look ridiculous, as I still have 40-something kilos to lose until I’m anywhere near normal weight, but heck, I’m almost 30 so I’m never going to be a prima ballerina anyway. 🙂

Oh, your swimsuit comments made me remember a similar situation a looonnngg time ago when I was little, and my mom yelled at my dad because his eyes were apparently popping out of his head looking at some woman’s cleavage!Well, good for you, Laura! If you feel cute in your new suit, then you go, girl!!I haven’t worn a swimsuit in I can’t remember how long, but it was at least as much due to “I don’t want anyone looking at my veiny legs” as my weight. I sure hope that your back will be feeling better soon!Poor Abner! Are there smells that dogs don’t like?? Every year at Christmas, we have to resort to smells that my cat doesn’t like to keep her away from the tree. I know for sure she hates citrus , wintergreen, and cinnamon smells and won’t go near them. I wonder if there is something similar with dogs??
Yeah, Gayle for your success! And I can sure sympathize with your migraines. My daughter and I have both been laid out with them this week. Three out four of my children inherited the tendency to migraines from me, poor kids.
I have no progress this week. I went to my Dr. this week, and no fanfare there about my weight. Sigh…But, now I have to wear a heart monitor event recorder for a whole month.Gee, I am tired of all of this, but my cousin is taking me to get the monitor, and first thing we are going to a yarn shop I have never been to. That, plus the whole area will be full of university guys to look at!

Congrats on finding a cute suit! I found a nice one this year also but I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet… On the health side I’ve been eating healthy but haven’t been exercising so no weight loss. It was hard to refrain from drinking coffee at my parents house since the pot is pretty much always on but I managed to drink water instead. My sister was aghast when I ordered a decaf mocha at Starbucks… I just laughed.
