Are they sick? or not.

Abigail is coughing her brains out, but shows no other symptoms. We’re taking her to the doctor tomorrow. Veronica threw up on Saturday, was fine yesterday, and then threw up again this morning.

I want to be out having fun with Nate who is off of work, and the girls who are out of school. This sucks.

I took a couple days off of knitting my scarf, because my left elbow was killing me. I should probably get that looked at, but right now, I’m still in denial.

My M-I-L took the girls out last week to buy a present for Nate and I. They bought Nate some pajamas, and I got a Rebecca Baby+Kids magazine

and some great red Cascade 220 superwash to knit something for the little tyke.

Christmas is over, and the holiday themed photos will be coming to an end, but not quite yet.

We bought an Epson photo printer on Christmas Eve, and took some pictures to test it out. This one was the best, which is of the girls in front of the tree in their new pajamas. The printer is cool. It doesn’t need to be connected to the computer. We just plug in the memory card, view the photos on a screen on the printer, pick which ones and print. They look great, much better than a regular computer printer.

I’m happy, and it has me thinking about scrapbooking again. I used to be way into it, until Veronica was born. I never did the real fancy stuff, with stickers or anything, but I liked to tape the photos in and write about them. A few weeks ago, something happened that broke my heart.

The girls came to me and Abby asked, “Can I look at my scrapbook?” I said yes.

Olivia asked, “Can I look at my scrapbook?” and I said yes.

Then Veronica asked, “Can I look at…. someone else’s scrapbook?”

Awwwww. That’s just sad.

I’ve taken a zillion pictures of her, as you all can tell, I’m sure. But I haven’t printed a single one of them. Now I will, and I’ll stick ’em in a book.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday/weekend.

Your girls are beautiful! What a sweet photo. It must be so hard to keep up on baby books/photo albums/scrapbooks, etc. I know that will be hard for me, anyway! I hope everyone’s feeling better soon. 🙂

Your children are blessed that you take pictures. I don’t take pictures or do scrapbooks. I know my kids are losing out on memories, but I can’t get into it. I guess I’m hung up on the idea of events being picture-worthy before I bring out the camera.

I’m just a bit north of you, at the edge of the Skagit Valley. South of Mt. Vernon, actually.

There were six kids in my family. I was the oldest, then there were five boys. The youngest boy was beloved by all of us. Somebody was always carrying him around, or reading him a story, or taking him somewhere. I want you to understand that he was loved and paid attention to.
But — by the time we all grew up and Mom was putting pictures in individual books, we could find ONLY TWO PICTURES of that little kid, not counting his school photos. Did we all feel like crap? Yes indeedy. That little kid is over 40 now but we STILL feel like crap when we mention it to each other. So print those photos — aren’t those little printers wonderful?

Wouldn’t you know it? I was just thinking that a scrapbooking to celebrate my little niece’s arrival is definitely in order. So I started work on it yesterday and hopefully I can get some more photos in there and present it to her parents on her 1st mth celebration!

How nice is that? I wish someone else would make scrapbooks for my kids! I like looking at them, but putting them together isn’t as enjoyable to me as knitting. Oh well, I’ve committed to making one for each of my kids’ first year, then maybe I’ll do one for the whole family. We’re a bunch of sickies this week too. We just got over the stomach flu and now we’ve all got yucky coughs and runny noses. I wish I could have a get together at my house without getting sick afterwards… Here’s hoping next year will be healthier!

My mom used to make photo albums, where she’d glue in pictures and write about them. I can’t imagine the time it must have taken, but I love them, and have since I was little.

In some ways, it seems like the blog is a picture album, no?
