House hunting

Wow. We found something really cool today, and we’re not ready yet. Dangit. So Nate is trying to speed up our mortgage broker, and I’m talking with the realtor about pricing and such.

We’re not ready for this, but I can’t help hoping it works out.

When we walked through it today, the owner was there, which I was annoyed by at first, but she ended up being quite helpful and friendly.

The house is gorgeous (on the inside, the outside is heinous), the bedrooms are big, there’s an incredible space for Nate’s office, and they’ve done gorgeous, high quality remodeling throughout the whole thing.

The funny thing is that after we left, I asked the realtor what the strange smell was when we first walked in. Was it cigarette smoke? Not quite. Was it incense? Not exactly.

The realtor got a funny look on his face and said it was neither.

Oh.

Well.

Ok.

Yup. Naive little me doesn’t quite recognize the smell of weed.

I hope it doesn’t linger when their stuff is gone.

Ha ha ha ha! I got a kick out of that. I like the smell of weed. I guess over the last several years I can count on two fingers the number of times I’ve actually smoked the stuff, but I continue to like the smell. Of course, that doesn’t mean I want it in my house.

I wouldn’t worry too much about any lingering smell if you’re planning to paint. Is there carpeting? I’m guessing once their drapes and furniture are out, the smell will be, too. Nothing a fresh coat of paint and a steam-cleaning for the carpets won’t fix. I wouldn’t miss out on a house you love because of something like that.

    Good luck!

i wouldn’t have known what it was either! there’s something to be said for that kind of ignorance;)

As a Vancouverite, I’ve heard the cigarette/weed smell discussion many times. Consensus is that pot neither stains walls nor leaves a lingering smell the way tobacco does.

Oh my word… weed, huh? The smell will probably go away.

    Good luck! Exciting!

haha! that’s a funny pot story! I have another one.. my boyfriend (who can’t smell) was sitting on a couch at a party back in college, and was starting to feel pretty nice and relaxed. Turned out, he was getting second-hand high! He was also a little oblivious…

I wanted to thank you for posting that Esther williams pattern– I just finished my hat (will post pictures tomorrow) and it turned out beautifully. Thank you so much! Did you make up that pattern?

haha! That gave ne a good laugh 🙂 can’t even believe they didn’t spray something before they showed it, so it wouldn’t smell! The smell will go away. Nothing a little spray and stuff can’t handle until it fulling goes away anyways. 🙂 Glad you found a house 🙂

Hmm…let’s see…three girls…a baby on the way…and adding house hunting to the mix…not to mention moving. Girl, you do like living on the edge! Best of luck in your search.

Oh, a new house, how exciting. I hope it all works out for the six of you. Is it in the same neighborhood/area as your current house?
How’s the sock? And I’m glad you (and Clark) are healthy, passing tests and all that.

    THAT’S HILARIOUS!

(I have some Pure Ayre, we’ll be selling it on Yachtdogs.org, it will get rid of any remaining unwanted odors. Also, Jane doesn’t linger like the legal stuff does – Or so I’ve been told.)
