So, why am I fat, then?

Yesterday was my first day of Calorie King. I was supposed to eat 1690 calories, plus whatever calories I burned exercising (295 I think, depends on where you look). I couldn’t do it, and it felt stupid to eat something sweet just to meet my calories, so I ended up being 331 calories shy of my target.

That is just so weird to me.

We’ll see how today goes. I added 2 oz of banana to my shake this morning to give me a little more calories. I like that the program tracks water consumption. That’s something I like to do anyway, so it’s nice to keep it all in one place.

On the faroese shawl, I’m about done with skein #5. Two left, but I’m thinking I’m going to need more skeins.

It’s so pretty. I can’t wait to see it blocked.

So a bit of advice from someone who doesn’t know a whole lot: Skip the banana and add 1/2 c of frozen berries instead. It will add 45 more calories to your shake and some fiber. Bananas have a very high GI and will make you more hungry when your blood sugar falls. Berries are sweet (inexpensive if you get the frozen kind) and have a very low GI so it gives you the needed carbs without causing your body to go all haywire. I got some frozen berries at Costco for 6.99 for 10lbs or something. It was a steal, and they taste great plain too. Not sour at all.

Finally, exercise is the key to ANY weightloss. You gotta burn it off. I took in 1250 calories yesterday and worked off 500 at the gym. Since it takes about 1000 just to keep me blinking and swallowing. I know I burned fat.

Keep up the great work. One day at a time!

The shawl looks GREAT!!! And I hear ya on the diet. One of the things I have found the hardest to believe is that I was *not* eating enough. I was like huh? How is that possible? Like I had mentioned before…adding in an extra scoop of protein powder to shakes helps as well. Good luck! I’m going to go drink some water right now…since I read this and am thinking about it :o)

The shawl is beautiful – I’m sorry it wasn’t finished for your neighbor in time, but maybe it was meant for someone else… As for the calories, maybe eating more calories throughout your day will boost your metabolism. Don’t just stick to mealtimes either – healthy snacks don’t have to be plain veggies. Having a little protein mid-afternoon (like a yogurt or Pria bar) usually gives me a bit more energy in the evening.

Are you getting enough protein? Not eating enough calories can be just as bad as eating too many. Your body will think “I’m not getting enough, I better hold onto what I have” and will go in shutdown mode and won’t let go of anything. 🙂
