Socks

I don’t remember when I bought this yarn, but I remember specifically seeing it on the shelf and knowing that it had to be cabled socks. And I’m finally getting to it.

Both cuffs are done and I’ve started down one leg. It’s an extremely bizarre color. I can’t decide if it’s purplish, gray, green, or if I even like it… but I know I’ll like the socks.

And speaking of socks, my friend Carol from Knit Me Up is starting a sock club inspired by the Twilight books and characters. Her yarn is great. She negotiated with mills to get it spun to her specifications, and it’s lovely.

Yesterday, Clark and I went out. I decided to go at his own pace, and let him walk everywhere, so it took a very long time, but it was really fun. We first went to the library where I picked up some nice books.

That Cables Untangled is looking pretty cool. I might need to buy one.

So, I’ve been thinking, (and I’m going to need to be a little cryptic because of some adolescents that peruse), about knitting a few small shoulder shawls for some upcoming, spring commencements of age. If you get me.

I think they would be well received, and wouldn’t take too much effort. I was thinking of the Shetland Triangle from Wrap Style, the Angel Shawl, also by Evelyn Clark, and perhaps the Flower Basket if I don’t find another. Any suggestions?

I like the cables; they look very nice. The picture makes the colors looks very green with some muted brown.

Oh, a Twilight sock club? That could be fun. Although, knowing me I wouldn’t be able to knit them for months because of the other projects I am going to do (repeating to self over and over and over). Have you seen the yarn?

Man, a Twilight sock club would be AWESOME!!! Do you know how it is inspired by the books – colors? patterns? just generally?

    I really shouldn’t… I really shouldn’t… but oh how I want to!!!

There is no reason at all for me to join a sock club – I already have a ludicrous stash of sock yarn that mocks me everytime I look at it, double-dog-dares me to knit some socks, and yet I choose other projects instead. But Twilight? I’m embarrassed to admit I devoured all three books over the holidays… I even almost emailed you saying “What the heck is wrong with Bella?!!!!” And then, I realized how silly that was… and besides I was only on book 2 at that point. But why oh why do I feel so tempted by that link? It’s not like I’ve got piles of money laying around, and even if I did, there are plenty of other things it would need to applied to. Sigh… Oh, but to have the yarn, and there are only 12 spots total. Dare I? I don’t know. Perhaps I’ll sleep on it. 🙂

Evil temptress!!! We have preschool registrations this month…and that would cover the sock club. But I think that having Riley in the co-op next year might be money better spent. I am SO BUMMED! Well….hopefully she’ll do more of them in the future.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the new socks. I think the pic probably isin’t acurately capturing the color…it looks greyish green to me.

I love the sock Laura. You’ve got great taste bcuz the cables look just perfect with the yarn … what pattern are you using? I’d love to do some swatching with the same cable-types 🙂

Hey La, Thanks for the promotion for the sock club. I got at least one sign up from your site’s recommendation already. I’ll think of some way to thank you (: The sock looks great btw! Maybe round two you might want to contribute a design? Give it a think anyway –

I’m jealous because your library clearly has a MUCH better knitting selection than mine. AND they charge me $5.00/book for interlibrary loan. Cretins.
