It’s done, and my sister wants it

Remember the Kathmandu shrug?

Well, I spent most of yesterday working on it. I thought that once I sewed it up, it would get shorter, so I made it really long. In actuality, when I sewed it up, it grew. Once again, I frogged the garter stitch edge, ripped an additional 8 rows, and re-knit the edge. And hallelujiah! I have a shrug. It is very neat, and very warm. I’m going to wear it today. During one of my many trips to the bathroom mirror as it was nearing completion yesterday, my sister shouted out, “I WANT A SHRUG!” She seemed somewhat astonished at herself, and claimed to have Tourettes. I don’t feel bad, though. She is so stinking cute in every way…. Yesterday as we were standing in the kitchen, I kept looking at her and thinking, “yes, that’s why I want to be thin, so I can look like that!”

(At this point I need to tell Nate that I’m saying this light-heartedly. That in fact I know I’m beautiful. And I know you love me just how I am).

He gets really upset when I’m critical about myself.

And right now, this same, cute, sister is telling me that I need to make sure you all know that she’s the sister that taught me how to knit. We are discussing possibly picking up a disposable camera while we’re in town today, so I can take a picture of my mom’s sweater and the pretty, silk sweater I made for my sister almost two years ago.

The snow has stopped, but it’s still cloudy and cold.

The two yarn stores in town are called Juniper Fiber Works and Gossamer Threads. I’ve never been to either of them, and am looking forward to it. There’s no sales tax down here! Hee hee. I wonder if either of them sell spinning wheels and drum carders! :-).
