Cable-Eight with me!

But before we get into that, I have some Valentine’s Day gifty business to attend to.

I have packaged, stamped, sealed and addressed most all of the Valentine’s for which I have received addresses. They will most likely be sent out today. To those of you who are abroad, you are addressed, stuffed, and waiting to be hauled off the the post office, but postage has not yet been affixed. Here is a list of addresses I still need, and while there is no deadline for you to email me your address, I will assume after this post that if you don’t respond, you aren’t interested. And that is completely fine. No hard feelings. I’m just saying, officially, that I’m not going to beg. :-).

The rest of you are going to receive your gifties soon. And Carrie, Mary Sunshine’s doll’s twin is heading to you! (Once I finish her, so you’ll have to wait a little longer than everyone else. Sorry). Congratulations!

Now, the knitalong.

This is what we are knitting…

It’s the Cable-Eight top from the Spring 2005 Interweave Knits magazine. UPDATE- there’s an errata!!

This is the nifty button Nate has made for us…

Please copy it to your own server.

To make it easy on me, please comment to this entry, or send me an email to join the knit-along. I have some scattered comments and emails over the past couple of weeks expressing interest, and I’m sure I’ll miss someone. Here’s who I’ve got so far, but I’ll wait for a confirmation before putting you in the sidebar-

Megan
Stella
Katie?

Let me know.

I finally have my yarn.

It’s Plymouth Encore Colorspun, in a really pretty creamy-tan color. I know it will have a completely different look and feel than the cotton the pattern calls for, but this was about half the cost of most everything else I could find, and I was able to use store credit, so here we are. I like the color a lot. If I like the finished sweater enough, perhaps I’ll save up for that GGH Aspen and make it again. Maybe.

So tell me if you want to join, tell me what you’re making it with…. and remember, Fridays are knit-along days around here. If you’d like me to link you or show your progress, I’m happy to do it. Just email me before Friday and let me know.

Fabulous! I guess we’re all set! And while you’re at it, be sure to tell Nate what a neat button he made. He’s an artist, you know. They like that.

oOoOoOoOoOoOhH! I can’t believe I’m the winner of Mary Sunshine’s twin!!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! I’m SO excited!

  2. Sue Says:

I got my stitch markers and they are bee-yo-u-ti-ful! Look for a return letter and nifty gifty soon!

Hey…dig the new homepage. No knitting content yet, but it’s just started!

  3. stephanie Says:

    Nate? Nice button buddy.

  4. Angela Says:

Would love to join the knit along, but I am still working up to big projects. And I need to make something from my DS first… Maybe next time. Love the yarn that you picked out for yours. A creamy tan always shows off cables beautifully!!! Have fun.

  5. frances Says:

Hey, add me to the cable-along! My interweave has yet to arrive (maybe because I live in rural canada?) but it looks beautiful!

    As does Nate’s button!

  6. LeAnne Says:

Put me on, please…in hot pink Checkheaton that I’ve been waiting to use since I bought it for who knows what! Thanks!

  7. Rebekah Says:

I’m officially in. Plus, I am working on getting my blog up! I can’t wait to add the cool button to my very own site!

  8. jena Says:

Yes, count me IN! I’ve rescued some stash yarn that just wasn’t working in another pattern. Yay!

I’m using Schoeller Stahl Cecil in a pretty purple color. It’s a bulky cotton yarn, and I can *almost* get gauge using just one strand. So, I’m going to follow the directions for a larger size and hope for the best.

As soon as I can get around to uploading pictures from the camera, I’ll have some progress to show!

  9. Stella Says:

I am totally in for the Cable 8. I have my Cotton Fleece in Pink all set to go! I will probably start it mid-March. 🙂

    Thanks for hosting!

  10. Katie Says:

Ok, so I think I’m in for the Cable 8. It looks like a good warm-up project before I dive into the hoodie sweater. My only hesitation is the price of the yarn because I want to be sure and have the yarn for the shrug, ya know?

  11. Kathy Says:

OK, I’ll try it-even though I haven’t done any cables before. My DH says I can handle it, so with that kind of support, who could say no? Don’t know about the yarn yet-I just bought the mag yesterday. I’m excited!

  12. Diana Says:

This is the one thing I want to make from this Interweave! It would be great if people could brainstorm on yarns that would work and how they swatched up if that’s been done.

I am interested to hear how the cotton fleece works out… I still need to go pick out yarn.

  13. Megan Says:

I’ll be starting soon–I cleaned out my knitting bag of a few long lost projects and now I have plenty of room.

    Love the button, nate.

  14. wandams1 Says:

I would like to join the Knit Along. Are you forming a Yahoo Group?

  15. Michelle Says:

I’d love to join along. This is such a cute tank!

  16. Rox Says:

Yay – count me in! I have to go thru my mound of yarn to see which to use – but I’m sure I’ll find something!! Love this pattern! Thanks much!!

  17. Lesley Says:

Is it too late to join? I’m using Rowan Cork, a single strand. Hopefully I’ll be able to get gauge with it…

    I love knitalongs! 🙂

  18. Skylar Says:

Oh please say it isn’t too late to join??? I’ve started up using Rowan All Seasons Cotton in Jaunty, double strand. I am about 1/2 done with the back/front (does it matter?). It’s coming along beautifully!

  19. Skylar Says:

    Hi Laura,

People can see my progress at http://www.knitkatgirl.blogspot.com I haven’t done much since Sunday, but I will get back on track…

  20. Janet Says:

OMG! I just found out about KAL’s and guess what. I started this Cable 8 last week. Please may I join your KAL. Thanks for looking into letting me join.

    Janet

  21. corine Says:

i cast on for cable 8 last night and would love to continue along with the rest of you. you’ve already been helpful with the heads up on the errata, i knit that row and thought ?hunh? it’s much better now, thanks.

  22. ~drew~ Says:

I just started this sweater over the weekend. It’s my first time cabling! It’s working up so quickly I’m sure everyone in this KAL is finished already!! 🙂

  23. Pat Says:

I’m not “officially” in the KAL but I was sirfing around and found it. I made one of these as a sample for my shop ( I think I was the first to find the errata because when I called IK they didn’t know about it yet and then after a long tech discussion they posted the errata on their site and I posted it in KR)
Anyway – I am having then darndest time putting it together. It doesn’t look right!
Can anyone give me any hints or at least humor me so I don’t feel like the most dyslexic knitter on earth?

  24. Positive Searcher Says:

Marvellous! That’s the site I was looking for!:)
