Sorry!

No pictures of Cable-Eight. I’m tired from the trip. Not the trip itself, but the cleaning and packing to come home part. My camera batteries are dead. And I didn’t get the right shirt to wear under it ’til last night. SO, I’m sorry, but I got no photo. It is Cable-Eight day, however. Is anyone working on theirs? Is knit-along day dead? Do I need to start another one?

If so, what would you all like to knit? I still want to make the “I Do” shrug from Knitty. And I still want to make the Bowling Bag Purse from the second S&B book. (Wow, January! Has it been that long? I haven’t been particularly productive this year, have I? Why are you all still here? I’m boring!)

No, seriously. As I was poking around the site, trying to link the last time we went to A&W for Saturday’s post, I ended up in April and noticed pictures of Cable-Eight and the VCC. Now, admittedly, I have finished a few things since then, but not a lot. So, I’m currently blogging about projects I’ve had going since March and April. How patient you all are!

I wanted to make the “I Do” shrug for a wedding I have to go to in October – I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get it done though… it would be, admittedly one of those projects that I would wear if I got it finished and I have a plan B if it went unfinished… so if you end up doing that project, I’ll come along for the KAL ride…

I’m tempted by”I Do” as well. I’ll join in too.

I’ll poke around and see if there’s a knitalong already.

Hi Laura! I’m probably going to be the last person to finish my Cable-8, but I’m resolving myself to finishing that before I work on any more fall projects … so FO soon, I hope. Anyhow, I’m sending out stitch markers, and I have a set for you … but no address! Could you send me your address when you get a chance? Thanks! 🙂

You may not be prolific in the knitting department – Heaven knows neither am I! but your posts are very entertaining. Keep telling your stories!

Welcome back! I thought I caught a glimpse of white in your drive as I zoomed past down the hill. Good to have you around again! I think that thing was a squid, but I’m not sure, it does vaguely remember something that chomped my friend’s arm back in HS, but I was paying more attention the HER at that point than THE THING, and don’t really remember. I love the pics of all the girls and the starfish & I am glad to see Olivia back to playing things up for the camera. Too bad Abner didn’t get to romp or swim, but he sounded happy and I haven’t given up on him yet!

    I can’t wait for tomorrow’s post!

I started the cable eight. I know people are going to be like OMG, I can’t believe she is using that yarn, but I have some Simply Soft that I was going to make an afghan out of for my Mom, but abandoned it bc it was taking WAY too long. Now, I’ve already tried it, and like it, but I want to know what everyone else thinks about using Simply Soft for the Cable 8. I have started and ripped and started and ripped. Now, I don’t want to have to rip. I gotta find someone around here in a yarn store or something that will help me rip back and start a row below my mistake. I dropped a stitch and i have this big hole in it now. I really don’t want to have to rip it out, bc well, I’ve gotten a good bit done and I like how it looks minus the hole of course.

So what do ya’ll think about using the Simply Soft? I just can’ afford anything else right now. And I showed my Mom (the cable 8 is for her, but she doesn’t know it) and she likes how soft it is and likes the look of it.

I wouldn’t mind working on the bowling bag. I would just have to get the book. Which I’m waiting on it from the library so I can take a look at it. It stinks not having money!!

I’ll join in the “I Do” as well.

Hey you!! Don’t be too “upset” @ not getting a lot done. You have CHILDREN!! As a Mom of 4 (who’ve now left the nest) I KNOW all the energy that takes!!! I love to read your blog whether you finish anything or not!! I’ve never done cables, so I guess I’d better get on that?!! Need to add to my knit repertoire? Take care of LAURA?!!!!!

  10. Dani Says:

Janet, you ain’t never lied! As a mom of four (who are a long way from leaving the nest) I’m as non-prolific as Laura. I talk about knitting more often than I actually do it. I think that’s why people cling to the stereotype of grandmas knitting — I don’t think I will have much time to knit until I am a grandma!

There is an I Do knitalong here: http://idoshrug.blogspot.com/

I love my “Letter Have It” bag from S&B Nation. It was a lot quicker to knit than I thought it would be. I just wish it had room for all the things I need to carry around with me. I might have felted it a little longer than necessary though. Looking forward to reading about your next project whatever it is.
